There I was, standing by the fence of my property, looking at Lisa, my neighbor. There was something so appealing about her but I couldn’t place it. Her strawberry blonde hair was flowing like a cape behind her heart shaped face. She stood, with her arms spread wide, laughing as if she had no worries.
She walked up to me and stood on the other side of the fence, waving her hands in front of my face to catch my attention. It took me a moment to realize what she was doing. “Yeah?” I questioned lazily. “What you doing there, mister? Won’t you talk if someone says ‘hi’?”, she chirped. “I was thinking, didn’t see you”, I retorted. “Oh!”, she sounded surprised.
Suddenly she leaned close to me and whispered, “Manny, you know what?” I was taken aback by the sudden gesture and almost lost my balance. “What?” I whispered back, taking in the smell of her perfume. “Nothing. I just came close so that you can smell my perfume”, she laughed, bouncing away again. My head reeled.
“Uh, yeah. It’s nice. What perfume is it?” I managed to gargle. “It’s called Pink Sugar and it’s by Aquolina. Is it nice? Really?” she questioned. “Yeah, it reminds me of a small girl I used to know when I was a kid”, I replied though I did not wholly understand what I was trying to do.
She gave me a strange look and walked away, leaving me stranded, feeling lost. I couldn’t forget the scent and it kept disturbing me throughout the day. Whatever I did, I would only think of that sexy smell and the way she leaned closed to my ear, leaving me with chills down my spine.
As much as I tried to tend to my farm, my parents, my niece; I could not. All I did was think of her; the way her hair would feel between my fingers, her soft skin beneath my palm and her lush lips on mine. Her perfume, as if by magic, came to my memory again, leaving me breathless. I was hopelessly in love.
The next day, I saw her again, her perfume sending my head spinning again. “Lisa”, I told her “I don’t know what you’ve done to me but I can’t help falling hopelessly in love with you”. She smiled wickedly, pulling me closer by my collar. “Did this change occur after you had a whiff of my perfume yesterday?” she asked. Could I lie? I confessed, hoping she did not take me wrong. She laughed.
“It’s a spell, my love. It was the only way I could make you notice me”. And we lived happily ever after.
