Ben is not the most romantic person on earth. Actually, he is the least romantic person I have ever known. We dated each other in high school. By the time we finished college we were engaged. We got married when we were 25 years old and settled into a comfortable life that was filled with loads of love.

Though we have always maintained a predictable routine during our marriage our love for each other has more than made up for the absence of romance. Initially Ben tried hard to impress me with his spurs of spontaneity. But these small acts required a lot of effort on his part and in due course of time even these became fewer in number. I knew him well enough not to expect them either.

I can’t say that I didn’t get upset over not having an occasional candle lit dinner, or taking a walk on the beach by moonlight. There were days when I would get frustrated over little things like this. But little things like this also matter. However Ben didn’t seem to be reading the signs and when he occasionally did he was helpless about it. His helplessness would soften my heart and I would calm down eventually.

And then on my 32nd birthday I decided to treat myself and went in for a haircut. The new look sure gave me a nice feel. My friend Gina later presented me a perfume by Dolce & Gabbana. I had heard of Dolce and Gabbana as a clothes designer but was not familiar with the perfume line. She gave me their signature fragrance Dolce & Gabbana for women. I tried the perfume and I should say it had a strong feminine quality about it that would make one sit up and take notice of the person wearing it. The fragrance of the perfume still remained when I got back home that noon. He complimented on my new hair style; and surprisingly he even caught the scent and asked me what it was. I told him it was a Dolce & Gabbana perfume, a present from Gina for my birthday. He was startled by the news as he had forgotten my birthday. But very diplomatically he cancelled all his appointments for the day and decided to take me out for lunch.

I decided to take advantage of this rare showcase of love. I Googled Dolce & Gabbana to try and find pictures of the clothes line. After finding a site with D&G styles On It I decided to wear a sexy black spaghetti strap dress and my new perfume. “This should have some effect on him!” I thought. And sure enough Ben hardly took his eyes off of me the whole evening. He also whispered into my ears a romantic “I love you.” The perfume sure did wonders for me that day!
